 What Do Our Chiropractors Do?

Our chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that can include assessing patients through clinical examinations, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic techniques to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not.

Our Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to use physiotherapy, recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by our chiropractors is known as "spinal manipulation," also called "chiropractic adjustment."  The purpose of the adjustment is to remove nerve interference "subluxations" and restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement.

Not all chiropractors work alike.  The chiropractic profession has developed many different methods used to analyze the spine for subluxations and to adjust the subluxations away.  These methods are referred to as "techniques."  Our chiropractors are familiar with most of these techniques and are therefore able to develop a treatment plan that is very specific to your individual needs.

In many cases, chiropractic care at our office may be your primary method of treatment however, when other medical conditions exist, our chiropractic care may complement or support other medical treatment.  Our chiropractors will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for your condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of your health care team.

As you continue your care at our office and your spine and nervous system continue to release deep-seated stresses you may begin to notice some or all of the following:

  • Better balance, smoother movement, and as a result, more energy.

  • Decreased pain.

  • Increased awareness of your spine, its movements, areas of tightness and/or restrictions.

  • Increased awareness of your body stress.

  • More emotional relaxation.

  • You may spontaneously change your eating habits and feel an increased desire to exercise.
